About Business Days Calculation
A business day is typically any day of the week except Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays. The exact definition may vary by country and industry. This calculator helps you determine the number of working days between two dates, which is essential for project planning, delivery estimates, and deadline calculations.
How Business Days Are Calculated
The calculator works by:
- Counting all days between the start and end dates (inclusive)
- Subtracting weekend days (Saturday and Sunday by default, but customizable)
- Subtracting public holidays (if a country is selected)
- Providing the final count of business days
Customizing Weekend Days
By default, the calculator excludes Saturdays and Sundays as weekend days. However, you can customize which days count as weekends based on your work schedule. For example, in some Middle Eastern countries, the weekend might be Friday and Saturday.
Holiday Calculations
When you select a country, the calculator will exclude that country's public holidays from the business day count. Some countries have regional holidays, so you can also select a specific state or province for more accurate results.
Common Uses
This calculator is useful for:
- Project planning and scheduling
- Determining delivery dates for orders
- Calculating service level agreements (SLAs)
- Estimating processing times for applications
- Planning vacation time around weekends and holidays
Limitations
While this calculator provides accurate results for most cases, please note:
- Holiday data may not include all regional or local holidays
- Some industries may have different definitions of business days
- Floating holidays (like Easter) are calculated based on standard algorithms
