About the Gratuity Calculator
The gratuity calculator helps you estimate your end-of-service benefits based on your last drawn salary and years of service. Gratuity is a lump sum payment made by an employer to an employee in recognition of their long service when they leave the company.
How to Use the Gratuity Calculator
Enter the required information:
- Country: Select the country whose gratuity laws apply (UAE, India, or other)
- Basic Salary: Enter your monthly basic salary (excluding allowances)
- Years of Service: Enter your total years of service with the company
- Service Type: Select whether you were on a limited or unlimited contract (UAE specific)
- Last Drawn Salary: Enter your final monthly salary (used for some calculations)
- Termination Reason: Select whether you resigned or were terminated (affects UAE calculations)
Gratuity Calculation Methods
UAE Gratuity Calculation
In the UAE, gratuity is calculated differently based on contract type and termination reason:
- Limited Contract (Resignation): No gratuity if service is less than 1 year. 1/3 of 21 days' salary for 1-3 years. 2/3 of 21 days' salary for 3-5 years. Full 21 days' salary after 5 years.
- Limited Contract (Termination): Full gratuity as above regardless of years served.
- Unlimited Contract: 21 days' salary for first 5 years, 30 days' salary for each additional year.
India Gratuity Calculation
In India, gratuity is calculated as 15 days' salary for each completed year of service (based on last drawn salary):
- Formula: (Last drawn salary × 15 × Years of service) / 26
- Minimum 5 years of service required to be eligible
- The maximum gratuity amount is currently ₹20 lakh
Other Countries
For other countries, the calculator uses a standard formula of 21 days' salary for each year of service.
