About Concrete Calculator
The Concrete Calculator helps you estimate the amount of concrete needed for various construction projects. Whether you're pouring a slab, footing, column, wall, stairs, or curb, this tool provides accurate volume calculations and cost estimates based on your project dimensions.
How to Calculate Concrete Volume
Concrete volume is calculated differently depending on the shape of your project:
- Slab: Length × Width × Thickness (convert inches to feet)
- Footing: Length × Width × Depth (convert inches to feet)
- Column (Round): π × (Diameter/2)² × Height (convert inches to feet)
- Wall: Length × Height × Thickness (convert inches to feet)
- Stairs: Width × (Rise × Run × Number of Steps / 2) (convert inches to feet)
- Curb: Length × Width × Height (convert inches to feet)
Concrete Weight Calculation
The weight of concrete is calculated by multiplying the volume by the density of the concrete type:
- Regular concrete: 145 pounds per cubic foot
- Reinforced concrete: 150 pounds per cubic foot
- Lightweight concrete: 133 pounds per cubic foot
Bags of Concrete Needed
If you're using pre-mixed bags (typically 60lb bags), divide the total weight by the bag size (60) to determine how many bags you'll need. Always round up to ensure you have enough material.
Cost Estimation
The cost is calculated by converting cubic feet to cubic yards (divide by 27) and multiplying by the cost per cubic yard. This provides an estimate of material costs only and doesn't include labor or other expenses.
