Blood Sugar Calculator
Convert between blood sugar measurement units (mg/dL and mmol/L) and understand your glucose levels with our easy-to-use calculator. This tool helps diabetics and healthcare professionals quickly convert glucose values between different measurement systems.
Normal Blood Sugar Levels
- Fasting: 70-99 mg/dL (3.9-5.5 mmol/L)
- 2 hours after eating: Less than 140 mg/dL (7.8 mmol/L)
- Random: Less than 200 mg/dL (11.1 mmol/L)
Conversion Result: 0 mmol/L

About Blood Sugar Measurement
Blood sugar (glucose) is the main sugar found in your blood. It comes from the food you eat and is your body's main source of energy. Your blood carries glucose to all of your body's cells to use for energy. Diabetes is a disease in which your blood sugar levels are too high.
Blood Sugar Measurement Units
There are two main units used to measure blood glucose levels:
- Milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL): Used in the United States, Japan, and some other countries
- Millimoles per liter (mmol/L): Used in most other countries, including Canada, the UK, and Australia
Conversion Formula
The formulas to convert between these units are:
- From mg/dL to mmol/L: mmol/L = mg/dL ÷ 18
- From mmol/L to mg/dL: mg/dL = mmol/L × 18
Understanding Your Results
Blood sugar levels that are consistently too high or too low can indicate health problems:
Prediabetes
Fasting blood sugar between 100-125 mg/dL (5.6-6.9 mmol/L) indicates prediabetes, which means you're at higher risk for developing type 2 diabetes.
Diabetes
Fasting blood sugar of 126 mg/dL (7.0 mmol/L) or higher on two separate tests indicates diabetes.
Hypoglycemia
Blood sugar below 70 mg/dL (3.9 mmol/L) is considered low (hypoglycemia) and requires treatment with fast-acting carbohydrates.
